Syneilesis (hybrid ?)
$12.00
An unusual and beautiful foliage plant, the leaves emerge and unfold like little silky silver umbrellas in spring, or like a patch of silvery mushrooms. By summer they have lost their silveriness, but have grown to about 10” across, divided into many dark green leathery linear segments, on 15” stems. Forms a loose clump, blooms in summer with small aster like flowers on tall stems. Even though some would say that the flowers are not showy, perhaps that is true individually, but as a group, they have great architectural value, and I really like the way they look. These don't exactly fit the description of either species,
S. aconitifolia
or
S palmata
, so they may be of hybrid origin. Still a very cool plant. Everyone should have one. For light shade. From Asia. z5
